Information for Applicants
What
We Provide:
We can offer you a house or flat if you think you
need help because of any of the following:
- You have left your home because of domestic abuse –
either physical violence, mental or sexual abuse
- You have problems with your mental health
- You have problems because of drugs or alcohol
- You have recently left local authority care
- You are a young mother
- You need people to help you in order to live on your
own
- You have health problems which you need help with
- You are a young woman who is homeless
- You are a woman who has left, or is about to leave, prison
- You are vulnerable for some other reason
Each scheme consists of between 3 and 8 self contained
houses or flats. Most are next door to each other so that the women and
children living there can help each other. A Project Co-ordinator is employed
for each scheme and she will help you identify what your support needs
are and how they can be met. Our Project Co-ordinators are trained to
help you become more confident, allowing you to deal with your own problems
so that when you move on to a permanent home, you will be able to live
independently. She will also help you with any problems your children
might have.
How Long Can I Stay?
In the first place you will be offered a tenancy
for 6 months, though this can be renewed every 6 months for up to 2 years.
You will not normally stay for longer than this but exceptions can be
made for special reasons.
How Much Support Do We Provide?
We do not provide 24 hour support, but we can help
you:
- By providing you with a safe and secure home
- By listening and talking to you and suggesting where
you can get help with your problems
- By advocating on your behalf with other organisation
and contacting agencies like Social Services, NSPCC, and child psychologists
- By helping with problems your children might have
- By helping you find a permanent home when you area ready
to move.
